These works have been my passion for approximately fifteen years. I have drawn on many influences to develop my work to a level of originality that I feel is unique, purposeful, and collectible.
I am 76 years old now and wish for my artwork to be seen and appreciated by those who have a strong interest in erotic art as well as the wider artistic community. Having evolved the work over such a long period of time and spent countless hours adjusting the designs, considering their validity and concept towards erotic art and ensuring they reflect a detail that is evocative and complex, I feel that I can say that I have achieved this goal and the work you see today will be appreciated by collectors and artists alike.
My influences have been far and wide from the greats such as Picasso and Klimt to literature that I have read and been influenced by, the obscure, the evocative, and the sublime. When I set out on this journey of self reflection, research, and artistic challenge I was unaware of the depth involved in creating my art, and as such it has led me on a fascinating and thought provoking journey over the years.
The sexual revolution of the mid 20th Century gave me a great deal of literature to use as an influence behind my designs. I considered what to say, how to say it, and what my work would represent. Freedom, relationships, emotion, human connection, pleasure, and desire all of which I feel feature strongly from different standpoints within my work. I hope that this depth is captured by those who view my work and it leaves them with their own interpretation from the designs that are seen today.
My drawings focused on the simplistic yet targeted and distinctive impact of black and white patternation that links all 102 artworks forming a recognisable and common bond. I focused on the complexity of design, the linear pattern, and angular complexity that can be found throughout my work. This in turn led me to many reworkings, discarding a great deal of mock up designs due to slight errors and adjustments that I felt needed to be made to achieve a satisfactory final result. The juxtaposition between the light and the dark is also something I care greatly about within my work. It can reflect the playfulness and the strong desire found when considering erotic art and the erotic acts depicted illustrate a framework of imagination that is vivid and often quite blatant in its expression. It is a body of work that I am proud of and reflects strongly in what I set out to achieve.
